Ambassador University's 57-acre golf course opens to public

BIG SANDY, Texas--After 28 years as a private course, Ambassador University's 57-acre golf course here opened to the public in November, announced university president Russell Duke. The course and its maintenance equipment have been leased to the newly formed Ambassador Hills Golf Club, Inc.

Built in 1968, the par-70 course is 5,500 yards long and has nine holes and 18 tees. The course was designed and built by Longview, Texas, businessman Bill Brewer, whose son Wayne is vice president of operations for Ambassador Hills.

Ambassador Hills is owned and operated by Ron Stringer, president, and Wayne Brewer. Mr. Brewer last served Woodhollow Golf Club in Longview, and Mr. Stringer previously managed Sand Hills Country Club in Commerce, Texas. Green fees will be $5 for nine holes.
