Bible Sabbath Association elects new president

GILLETTE, Wyo.--The Bible Sabbath Association has elected Sydney Davis Jr. of Great Lakes, Ill., as its new president. Dr. Davis, of Ethiopian ancestry, is a member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church and the primary organizer of "Proclaiming the Sabbath More Fully" conferences and seminars around the United States.

His major research interests center on the African roots of biblical Judaism and Christianity that show the strong and ancient Sabbath-keeping traditions on the African continent.

Founded in the 1940s, the BSA is nondenominational and is open to all believers in the Seventh-day Sabbath. It has a new branch in Australia and membership in several countries.

Churches represented on its board include the United Church of God, Seventh Day Baptist Church, Seventh-day Adventist Church, Church of God (Seventh Day) of Denver, Colo., Church of God (Seventh Day) of Meridian, Idaho, and others.

The Sabbath Sentinel is a free-subscription magazine published by BSA. It is looking for well-written articles about the Sabbath and other matters of interest to Sabbatarians.

It also gives annual scholarships awarded based on essays about the Sabbath.
