Congregation plans party for pastor's 20th

PASADENA, Calif.--The Church of God Southern California invites you to an anniversary party Nov. 20. The occasion is the 20th anniversary of David L. Antion's pastorate. Anyone who presently attends, or formerly attended, the congregation, as well as anyone else, is invited to a special Sabbath service that will include music, food and a message from Dr. Antion.

The Church of God Southern California began in 1978 as part of the Texas-based Church of God International. Dr. Antion became pastor in the fall of 1979.

The congregation at that time established a member-elected church council of 12 members. He and the congregation wrote a document called "Rules of Procedure" the members ratified in 1980.

In January 1998 the congregation voted to independently incorporate and established a Web site at www.cogsc.org. At that time Dr. Antion also founded Guardian Ministries, an outreach ministry serving people in the United States and 18 foreign countries, including Canada, England, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, Belgium, Peru, the Philippines, Malaysia, Yugoslavia, Scotland, Wales, Mexico and the Netherlands.

This year Guardian, in cooperation with United Christian Ministries, Birmingham, Ala., sponsored a Feast site at Mandalay Beach in Oxnard, Calif.

The anniversary observance is set for 10:30 a.m. Nov. 20 in the Apostolic Christian Church building at 434 N. Altadena Dr. (a block north of the 210 freeway) in Pasadena.
