Harvest Cos. and The Journal plan joint advertising effort

NILES, Mich.--Harvest Cos. and The Journal have entered into a joint venture to produce an advertising section for each monthly issue of The Journal, announced Harvest Cos. owners Mark and Shelby Farmer of Niles and Journal publisher Dixon Cartwright of Big Sandy, Texas.

"Do you have something that you want to buy, sell or trade?" asked Mr. Farmer. "Want to share news about your family? Have you lost contact with someone you wish to find? Are you looking for a pen pal? Want to plug a local fund-raiser?"

The advertising section, scheduled to begin with The Journal's February issue, will be called Connections: Member to Member and will allow subscribers to The Journal and other interested parties to submit advertisements of promotional and informational nature to other subscribers.

"Connections seeks advertisements and announcements about anniversaries, awards, births, engagements, fund-raisers, local-church announcements, marriages, obituaries, pen pals, prayer requests and updates and other classified ads," said Mr. Farmer.

"Larger display advertising space will also be available and must be tasteful and of interest to the general readership of The Journal."

Mr. Farmer noted that, until now, church members have found it extremely difficult to offer products or services to others with like beliefs because few publications have accepted advertising.

"Though the word advertising has taken on a somewhat negative connotation, when done properly advertising can benefit many individuals and organizations," Mr. Farmer said.

For years Mark and Shelby Farmer have produced Feast greeting cards and are working on a book of unleavened recipes.

Prayer requests and updates will be printed at no charge, he said, "as well as obituaries of moderate length."

For more information about advertising space and prices, write Connections, 2530 Korn St., Niles, Mich. 49120. Or phone (616) 683-4739. Or E-mail Mr. Farmer at 104034.107@compuserve.com.

"We do reserve the right to reject advertising for any reason or for no reason," Mr. Farmer said.

The Journal is available from P.O Box 1020, Big Sandy, Texas 75755, U.S.A., and https://www.thejournal.org.
