AUCKLAND, New Zealand -- The Journal's distributor in New Zealand, Bruce Porteous, announced in November that he is no longer attending Sabbath services of the Living Church of God after the local pastor, Kinnear Penman, issued him an ultimatum: Either stop distributing The Journal or stop attending services.

Mr. Porteous has distributed The Journal in his home country since the beginning of this newspaper, in February 1997.

"I regret the actions of the ministry from various COG groups in suppressing the right of COG members in reading The Journal and causing further division within the Body of Christ," he said.

Mr. Penman's church is part of the U.S.-based Living Church of God. The LCG receives mail at P.O. Box 3810, Charlotte, N.C. 28227, U.S.A., and media@cogl.org.

New Zealanders may subscribe to The Journal by writing Mr. Porteous at 3 Skilgate Ave., New Lynn Auckland 1007, New Zealand. Or E-mail him at bruceport@xtra.co.nz.
