Worldwide Church of God Pastor dies
while fleeing from robbery attempt

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla.--A 65-year-old pastor of a Worldwide Church of God congregation died Jan. 13 during a robbery attempt at an apartment complex he owned in West Palm Beach. Roger Burrow, according to news reports, was among three people shot during the robbery. He was said to have been at the complex to collect rent from tenants. Police said a 22-year-old man and a teenage boy were charged in connection with the crime.

They said the two demanded money from a woman who was standing outside of Mr. Burrow's apartment buildings at about 9 p.m. Mr. Burrow was reportedly installing a toilet for a tenant and ran outside.

One of the robbers then shot at Mr. Burrow, Mr. Burrow's dog and two other men, according to news reports. Mr. Burrow tried to drive away with his dog in his GMC van but crashed into a wall at an intersection and died instantly. The two other men shot were in critical and stable condition, according to a report at www.palmbeachpost.com.

Mr. Burrow, who rented apartments mainly to Guatemalan immigrants, reportedly owned more than 30 rental properties.

Survivors include his wife, Martha, three sons, two daughters and six grandchildren.
