Rainer Wiedemann, Syanglehofweg, 1, A-4020 Linz, Austria, recovering well after fifth operation on the cornea of his eye. He is expected to be off work from 18 months to 2 years.

Luke Matthew Alvis, newborn, needs heart transplant.

Lyna Jane Bryant, 900 Westbrook Cir., Sulphur Springs, TX 75482, lymph-node cancer.

Maxine Dennis, pancreas cancer.

Joseph Edward Luce, newborn son of Chris and Kara, was born 7 weeks premature. He is currently undergoing treatment for a bone marrow and immune system condition.

Kenny Politte, Missouri, severe leg pain.

Chris Himmel, newborn son was premature with undeveloped lungs.

Eugene Holmes, Phenix City, Ala., brother of Shirley Hamil of Selma, Ala., stage 4 cancer of colon and pancreas.

Obituaries
Shirley Marie Sanders

Shirley Marie Sanders, 77, of Big Sandy, Texas, died Aug. 25. Mrs. Sanders was a homemaker and a member of the United Church of God. She was born Jan. 1, 1928, in Pritchett, Texas. Survivors include sons David R. Mooney, Gilmer, Texas, Kelvin D. Mooney, Centerville, Mo., daughters Carol A. Pendley, Big Sandy, Eva L. Mooney, Scott, La.; a brother, Rex Willis, Big Sandy; a sister, Janey Baird, Big Sandy; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by husbands John P. Mooney Jr., Mannie Cessna and Robert Sanders; four brothers; one sister; and two grandsons.

Vernon Rogers

Vernon Rogers, 81, of Big Sandy, Texas, died Aug. 19. Mr. Rogers, a member of the Worldwide Church of God and, before his retirement, a longtime employee of Ambassador College, Big Sandy, is survived by daughter and son-in-law JoAnn and Jonathan DeWyer, sisters Murlene Burch, Maurene Blevins and Mavis Blevins and nieces and nephews.
