Gene Nielander

Funeral services for our beloved elder Gene Nielander were held Friday, March 4, at 2 p.m. at the Hippensteel Funeral Home in Lafayette, Ind. Interment was at Resthaven Memorial Cemetery. Gene died of a heart attack early in the morning Tuesday, March 1, at the age of 76. He had just retired a week before. The previous Sabbath he gave the sermonette in the Lafayette congregation.

Eugene I. "G.Y.G." Smyda returned to the Spiritual Father God at age of 81 on March 10. G.Y.G. lived a joyful and eventful life. He retired from the U.S. Navy as a Master Chief Photographer after serving in World War II, Korean and Vietnam campaigns as a combat photographer. He was also a master camera craftsman (camera repairman) and had his own National Camera ServiShop (Smyda Photography) in Panama City, Fla., before retiring from civilian life. Eugene was the chief photographer for The Plain Truth magazine when he lived in California and Texas and taught photography at Tyler Junior College and Ambassador College in Texas. Members of his family who are still here on earth are his sons Bryan Eugene Smyda and wife, Laurie, residing in Brandon, Miss.; John Michael Smyda and wife, Becky, plus five grandchildren: Jessica, Jonathan, Jacob, Juliann and Jared, residing i West Blockton, Ala.; James Barry Smyda and wife, Linda, residing in Cedar Hill, Texas; daughter Vivian Irene Smyda and husband, Ray, residing in Abilene, Texas; a brother, Edward S. Smyda, and his wife, Helen, who reside in Rochester, N.Y. No services will be held for in reality the real Smyda did not die for he returned to the Father God, who knew him before the universe was formed (1 Corinthians 2:7-8).

John Trescott
John Trescott

ANADARKO, Okla.--John Trescott, who with his wife, Retta, operated a Church of God ministry from their home here, died March 5 at home.

Mr. Trescott was baptized in July 1959 in London, England, in the Radio Church of God, then honorably discharged from the U.S. Air Force.

His places of residence had included New York; Pasadena, Calif.; Cleveland, Ohio; and Anadarko.

He was ordained a minister of the Seventh Day Church of God in January 1981, just before his marriage to Retta Jo Farrington of Anadarko.

Mr. Trescott is survived by four stepchildren, 19 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

 
Donna L. Henry

Mrs Donna L. Henry passed away May 23, 2005 at 12:55AM local time in Gilmer, Texas. She was baptized into the RCG in 1952. She was the daughter of James L. Friddle and Bonnie Louise Blackwell. She was born in Celeste, TX on June 28, 1929. She was preceded in death by her daughter Lele Flemming. Her surviving children are John P Henry Jr, James M Henry, Timothy W Henry, Donna M Dobson and Daniel B. Henry. She is survived by her brother James L Friddle Jr and sister Freia A Smith.

A memorial servie is being planned during the week of June 15 at the WCG building in Big Sandy to be conducted by N Michael Blackwell.
