Council Chairman Roy Holladay confirms Clyde Kilough / Richard Thompson have resigned from UCG council of elders

Council Chairman Roy Holladay of the United Church of God an International Association announced in a letter to church elders dated July 31, 2009, that Clyde Kilough and Richard Thompson have resigned their positions on the 12-man council of elders.

The UCG is based out of Milford, Ohio, a Cincinnati suburb.

Mr. Holladay wrote:

"Effective Monday, July 27, Richard Thompson resigned from the Council for personal reasons. On Tuesday, July 28, Clyde Kilough, who of course serves as the president of the United Church of God, resigned from the Council for personal reasons. Clyde will continue in his role as president, and Richard will continue serving as a pastor for the United Church of God and as a member of the Church's Ministerial Services Team."

Mr. Holladay said the church's "orderly process" will determine the two men's replacements, who will be the two elders "next in line" (assuming they are willing to serve) based on recent voting by elders of the general conference for council members.
