About 40 years ago Sarah Patrice Connelly was conceived. She was born Aug. 7, 1974. This afternoon (Dec. 19, 2013) she finished her physical life and entered into eternity with God by the grace of the sacrifice and resurrection of Jesus. Arline and I miss her very much and look forward to being with her again. We are thankful to God for this and grateful to all who have been praying and encouraged us and Sarah. Hendrikus Wihelmus "Henk" Jens, 79, of Belmore, N.S.W., Australia, formerly of Earlwood, died Dec. 17, 2013. Mr. Jens, a faithful servant of God now at rest, was born in the Netherlands June 26, 1934. With his family he lived in Amsterdam during World War II. Henk distinctly remembered rocket bombs and aircraft flying overhead on their way to England and how some Jewish residents and shopkeepers disappeared and were never seen again. Henk earned a bachelor's degree with a major in pure mathematics in 1989. He was a strong chess player who regularly competed at the club level and in the larger tournaments in Sydney. He passed away in the early hours of Dec. 17 due to complications from kidney failure and congestive heart failure.

He is survived by his wife, Edith, son, Andrew, and daughter, Jennifer. He was preceded in death by an infant son who lived only a few days. He was also preceded in death by his parents, Karel Jens and Johanna Maria van Oorschot Jens. Funeral service and burial for Henk were at Castlebrook Memorial Gardens on Dec. 21.

Lindsay E. Cary Jr., 90, of Tyler passed away on Dec. 9, 2013, at The Hospice of East Texas in Tyler. Lindsay was born Aug. 31, 1923, in Houston. He proudly served in the United States Navy during World War II. After the war, Lindsay played minor-league baseball. While playing ball, he met the love of his life, Ozie Mae Buie. They were married in 1950 and resided in Tyler for the last 63 years. Lindsay worked for the Tyler Rose Growers and was an avid golfer. He was a devout member of the New Covenant Fellowship Church in Tyler.

Lindsay is survived by his beloved wife, Ozie, and by one brother, William Cary. He was preceded in death by one son, Lindsay Carl Jr. Services were Dec. 13 at Lloyd James Funeral Home with Pastor David Orban officiating. Burial was in New Harmony Cemetery.

Edwin "Buddy" Robinette Harris, was born Dec. 21, 1932, to Mary Bell Robinette and Galvin Harris and died Dec. 13, 2013. Reared in Kerr Junction and Woodlawn Community in Arkansas, he was an exceptionally hard worker, retiring as a self-employed truck driver for over 50 years. He was the loving, caring, devoted husband for 54 years of Elizabeth Mustachia and wonderful devoted father of his son, Michael "Mike" R. Harris and his daughter, Stacé "Boots" F. Burruss and devoted grandfather to, Michelle L. Tater, Tracée E. Mills and Tommy Burruss. He loved working with brethren and Christian life with the United Church of God and all its brethren serving as deacon, bus driver and youth coordinator, and all activities of all kinds and the truth he had found. He showed much love and help to all his family and friends with a kind, hard-working way.

Mr. Harris is survived by his wife, Liz; children, Mike (Glenda) Harris, Boots (Mike) Burruss; sister, Shirley (Charles) Blaylock; brothers, W.D. (Myrtle) Harris, Marvin Dewayne Harris, Bunny and Janice Capel and Nita McBee; and a host of nieces and nephews. He loved going to church every week, learning, helping, driving his diesel, talking trucks, shooting pool, making a garden and picking cotton. He honored his mother-in-law, Dorothy Roberts, and father-in-law, James Mustachia, with much love and respect. Funeral services were at the Cranford Funeral Home of White Hall, Ark., with Frederick Kellers officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.

Alton Wright, 75, was born in Campbellsville, Ky., on Feb. 11, 1938. He lived in Kentucky until he served in the Army from 1955 to 1958. After his discharge he went to West Texas to work in the oilfield. There he met and soon married Lilly Jessen on Feb. 16, 1962. Alton and Lilly were called of God in May 1964. He and Lilly and several other brethren were baptized in Lake Loma on Oct. 15, 1965, during the Feast of Tabernacles. Having worked in the oilfield and other related businesses, Alton became a boilermaker in 1973. He and his family followed construction job sites from 1973 until 1979 before moving back to Odessa. During those years they met and fellowshipped with hundreds of brethren in Louisiana, Texas, Indiana, Kansas and New Mexico. That time was meaningful to them because of the cherished memories and loving friendships. During the crisis in the church they became affiliated with Global/Living Church of God in 1993. Divorced from Lilly in 1996, he met and married Lois Purcella in December 1998. They lived in Midland, Texas, until his death Aug. 29, 2013.

Besides his wife, Lois, he is survived by three sons and one daughter from his first marriage: Guy Wright, Zane Wright, Roger Wright and wife Andrea and Alton's two granddaughters, Chloe and Sophie; and daughter Loretta Wright-Williams (Kerr) with grandson Jake Williams; and son-in-law Klay Kerr. Alton suffered extensively from diabetes and Parkinson's disease and died in hospice care in Odessa. A memorial was held in Odessa on Sept. 9, 2013, officiated by Dan Hall of the Living Church of God.

Mary Ruth Davis Mischnick, 86, died Sept. 17, 2013, in Sherwood, Ark. She was born Nov. 5, 1926, in Tyronza, Ark., to Azro and Marie Grimes Nunnally. Ruth grew up on a farm with her three sisters and one brother where she learned many skills including gardening, cooking and crocheting. She worked in a cookie factory in Memphis, Tenn., prior to her first marriage to Winfard Davis. Winfard and Ruth had five children: one daughter and four sons. Winfard died Oct. 23, 1969, and after his death Ruth moved to Jonesboro, Ark., and was hired by Kroger. She retired from Kroger after 17 years. In 1984 Ruth was baptized in a lake by Bill Jacobs. She met Al Mischnick when he started the UCG congregation in the Jonesboro area. They were married for 16 years. Ruth was loved by the church members in both the Jonesboro and Little Rock congregations.

Ruth was preceded in death by her parents; first husband; son, Carl Lindell Davis; brother, Raymond Nunnally; and sister, Ellen Trombley. Survivors include her husband, Alfred Mischnick; sons, Bobby Davis and Larry Davis of Jonesboro and Joe Davis of Savannah, Ga.; daughter, Evelyn Shafer of Seattle, Wash.; sisters, Margie Lantz and Nancy Puckett; 11 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren. Ruth's funeral service was in Walnut Ridge, Ark., with Steven Shafer officiating and her husband, Alfred, giving the eulogy. Burial was in the Old Lebanon Cemetery near Lynn, Ark.
