WHEN should the Christian Passover be taken?
Nisan 14?  Nisan 15?  At Evening?  In the Afternoon?

The date for the Passover is often debated. The basic dispute surrounds whether the symbols of the Passover service, the bread and wine, should be observed on the night of Nisan (or Abib) fourteen, or on Nisan fifteen. Some sincerely believe that the symbols of accepting Christ's sacrifice should be taken on Nisan fifteen, the date the Jews observe their Passover meal, but which traditionally has been called "the Night to Be Much Observed (Remembered)."

This article reviews some of the arguments presented for partaking of the symbols of the New Covenant on the 15th of Nisan and presents a case for an early 14th Passover observance. Some of the topics discussed in this research include:

  • When does the Old Testament begin and end days?

  • The problem of the general use of the word "Passover" in scripture.

  • What does the Hebrew term "ben ha arbayim" (between the two evenings), used for the timing of Passover, mean?

  • Can ALL the events of the first Passover/Exodus fit into one night?

  • Brief review of Passover in New Testament

  • Did Jesus, before His crucifixion, eat a Passover meal?
